Is it me, or does this kitty actually look SAD?

He can't be sad-- he is so spoiled. But just in case, because I've heard that indoor cats can get really depressed and this indoor kitty is restricted to a small 1 bedroom apartment, I checked out the book, "250 Things You Can Do to Make Your Cat Adore You" by Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of PETA. Here's an excerpt:

"LITTERBOX ALERT

As you would wish to find it: That's how a cat's litterbox should always be left. Of all the indignities cats suffer at our hands, having us in charge of their litterbox arrangements is one of the worst. Cats' noses are sensitive, and their urine can be pungent. They do not wish to soil their dainty feet in it. Removing solid waste once or twice daily, or even after the act, isn't enough. A truly happy cat never has to wrinkle his nose--the litter pan is completely dumped daily, swilled with vinegar, washed with soap, and then thoroughly rinsed and dried..." (p. 26).
