the scene down at boston city hall around noon today as mass handed out the first marriage licenses to gay couples. every 30-60 seconds another newly licensed couple would exit and the crowd would cheer and offer congratulations.

this picture was my favorite. i liked the big, happy grin on the little boy's face and the red carnation held high.

my last photo series of the gay marriage protests at city hall (here & here) i took pictures of people and signs for both for and against gay marriage.
but this time, even though there were a few (quiet and meek) protesters outside city hall today i didn't take any shots of them. today i just wanted to take pictures of the smiles, love, cheering and overall celebration.
